Dylan was born in 1403 in the back of a local pub in Bedford, England. He spent the first 40 years of his life working as a professional horseshoe. "It wasn't too bad," he says, "you get used to the horse stepping on you instead of the ground...except when they gallop...THAT was a pain!"

In 1451, he gave up on being trod on by horses and decided to try his hand at the lute. To his amazement, he found he was a natural string player. His talent took him all the way to the top, where he bacame the royal lute player for Henry VI.

After a particularly fine concerto in the summer of 1462, King Henry reportedly said "That was, like, soooo far out, man! The sounds...they like...danced before my eyes! The colors man...look at the freakin' colors!! Yo, Court Wizard guy...make sure this lute playin' cat sticks around for a while, hey?" (source: The Beatnik Times, May 1959)

The court wizard was an excellent alchemist and mixed up a potion of age reversal. Dylan has been steadily getting younger ever since. Sadly, Henry VI wasn't around much longer than that to enjoy his favorite lute player. Dylan took off from England a few years later and toured Europe and Asia, learning different stringed instruments from the masters of the time.

A few hundreds of years later, Dylan, having reverse-aged down to 24, decided to go and see what "this upstart country calling itself the USA" was like. He spent many years bugging Mark Twain (Sam Clemens), convinced that the man knew how to play the harp. After Clemens' death, he wandered aimlessly about North America until he finally decided to settle down in the newly formed state of Montana.

He has been in Montana ever since, getting younger by the years. He finally decided to stop playing solo and joined up with the other members to create The Basic Practicalities. He figures he has about another 73 years to play guitar in this band before he becomes too young to hold a guitar.
